Today, Magdalena Andersson, leader of the Swedish Social Democratic party, and Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam, have officially inaugurated the construction of just over 400 new apartments in Årstaberg. Here, Wallenstam is planning a construction that will provide a new silhouette on Stockholm's skyline featuring sunny balconies, welcoming façades and colors that reflect the city's character.

In the old industrial area at Årstaberg station, a new residential district is taking shape including about 1,000 apartments, a compulsory school and a new neighborhood park.

"It feels great to be able to start a new construction of apartments in these times. We know that there is huge demand and we are therefore proud with this construction project to be able to provide just over 400 new apartments to Stockholm and Årstaberg," says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam

The apartments will be built a stone's throw from Södermalm at the intersection between Liljeholmen and Årstafältet. The Tvärbanan light rail line and a regional cycle route pass right next to the site which opens up proximity to the rest of Stockholm. The project is spread over three buildings surrounding an enclosed courtyard and a high-rise building. In addition to the apartments, there are plans for a diverse range of stores and services on the ground floors. Here, the pulse is high around the clock.

The planned new construction will vary from 7 to 25 floors. The first occupation in Wallenstam's apartments is expected to occur during 2026.
