China's JD.com, which owns retail formula Ochama in Europe, grew seven percent in the first quarter to $36 billion in sales.

Net profit rose slightly to a billion dollars in the period, for the Hong Kong-listed company.

JD said nothing further about Ochama, which operates in 24 European countries. Nor about other European or international operations.

Last quarter, JD.com renounced the acquisition of British company Currys. The retailer supplies refrigerators, washing machines and computers in Britain, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The chain struggled to grow over the past two years as sales fell after peaking during the pandemic.

It was also announced that JD.com plans to open a European distribution center for fashion goods. The DC should improve logistics to China. JD.com, logistics partner of Hunkemöller, is building the DC in Val-d'Oise, near Paris.
